Job description

You are a passionate and culturally savvy Senior Underwriter Property developing and growing a profitable portfolio within the Benelux market. With your sharp analytics you are able to assess and evaluate policy risks and calculate exposures. Always eager to network and grow your business, you enjoy visiting multinational clients as well as brokers and you utilize your commercial instinct and analytic skills to get property business that is in line with corporate strategy. You possess the market and industry knowledge to take the lead in tender processes. In addition you have the discipline and financial skills to calculate value and risk exposure and ensure compliance. Teaming up with the support unit on documentation issues and premium processing you ensure excellent customer service. With your business acumen and entrepreneurial flair you bring the Property business line to a higher level of complexity by sharing best practices and creating an atmosphere that drives teamwork, efficiency and results. You build relationships quickly and reinforce partnership in all your endeavors.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree, e.g. BA /MA in finance and insurance or business economics. Relevant post graduate industry recognized qualifications for the property business.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive commercial experience in B-to-B property underwriting within an insurance company or insurance broker environment. International experience is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of reinsurance, individual risk underwriting and actuarial techniques.
  • Ability to successfully acquire and develop new B-to-B accounts across the business line (including multinationals, chemical sites, offices and governmental institutes) and take the lead in complex underwriting or tender processes.
  • Taskmaster with integrity, discipline, outstanding financial skills and the ability to follow strict code of conduct.
  • Strong customer focus, business judgment and interpersonal skills. Ability to see the big picture with focus on detail when necessary.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and teambuilding skills; managing team performance, resolving issues and influencing outcome.
  • Strong strategic skills and conceptual capabilities; assessing opportunities and risks and driving transparency and efficiency in the business.
  • Excellent networking skills and ability to adapt to different cultures.
  • Fluent English and Dutch, good French is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel
