Client: Our client is a global leader serving markets worldwide with its unique combination of innovative products and services. It designs, produces and markets an impressive range of products which enhance the quality of life. The specialty department generates its business via three regions: Europe, Asia Pacific and North America. With some 1700 people worldwide it produces and sells a broad range of very technical products to Industry. Cycle times of products are short (six months to three years), its markets are dynamic and its customers, with complex value chains and more and more focus on global approach, demand state-of-the-art solutions. The organization is a matrix with a product line structure and a regional structure. XXX is one of the top lines and has great significance for our client. In three years this number two on the market doubled in size and in the next two years they are committed to grow another 50%! To accommodate long term global growth our client will open two new XXX plants in the near future, in Europe and China, and is looking for further expansion in Asia and in the USA.

Job description: Reporting to the Global Business Manager you establish strategy for the XXX Extrusion Product Line in Europe: you identify, analyze, plan and implement marketing plans and pricing policy to achieve agreed targets for the European market (global support secondary), in consultation with R&D and Sales. To include full product management of segment and product ranges: profit & loss, pricing/margin, NPI management, launches and deletions. You drive the market communication strategy and you are the key contact & support for the Product Line. You are an active member of the Global Product Team.

More in detail your brief includes meeting annual product volume, share & profit objectives in the Extrusion segment in Europe, defining price/volume targets for a given period (month/quarter), in consultation with the R&D Manager and to be executed by the Segment Sales Manager. You develop and gain agreement to strategic plan (to include situation assessment, key pricing strategies, objectives and conclusions) and translate the strategy into a product line plan. You lead development and gain agreement with the appropriate programs needed to drive the product line growth and identify, prioritize, and coordinate all product management related activities. With your excellent project management skills you find it easy to work with appropriate teams to deliver. You present independent and information-based views to high-level management and set exceptional performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master degree or equivalent in chemistry, technology or business
  • 5-8 years in international Product or Segment Business B to B, preferably in a corporate environment with a matrix structure
  • Knowledge of and experience with the process of extrusion, from development and production and/or supply chain to sales. Also possible some years of working experience in fim producers, e.g. in PET
  • Experience with defining price/volume targets and the complex dynamics of a product portfolio is preferred
  • Dynamic leader with strong vision and spine, execution and data driven
  • Excellent people skills and business acumen
  • Self-starter with sense of urgency and respect for meeting commitments
  • Global mindset and strong lateral thinking; adopting best practises and new ideas from everyone while capitalizing on strenghts and shaping the future
  • Experience with diverse cultures; international working experience is a plus
  • Strategic talent demonstrating strong persuasiveness and customer orientation
  • Top quality marketing skills, with track record of high achievement
  • Excellent analysis, project management and financial skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Strong English language skills essential, German, French and/or Dutch desirable
  • High energy level and willingness to travel (40-50%)
